Magento Go Q&A

Domain Names

How do I update DNS settings?

Your DNS records must be updated in order for shoppers to see the correct store when visiting your domain name. Log in to the control panel of your domain registrar and modify the DNS records according to your new eCommerce provider’s specifications. This update will seamlessly direct shoppers to your new store.

Because DNS changes can take at least 48 hours to fully propagate across the Internet, it is possible that some shoppers will continue to be directed to your closed store after the DNS changes have been made.

SSL Certificates

How do I reissue my SSL certificates purchased through Magento Go?

Merchants with valid GeoTrust, Thawte or Symantec/Verisign SSL certificates purchased though Magento Go may be able to have their SSL certificate reissued for use with a new hosting or eCommerce provider for the remainder of the certificate’s validity period. Not all hosting providers will allow or support externally purchased certificates. Merchants should contact their new provider to confirm they will allow the installation of an externally purchased GeoTrust, Thawte or Symantec/Verisign SSL certificate in their environment.

Review the two options below for one that best meets your needs.

Option 1: Leverage free SSL reissue process through Certs 4 Less

A number of SSL certificate resellers can help you navigate this SSL reissuing process. One such reseller is Certs 4 Less.

Certs 4 Less is a Platinum Partner for Symantec, GeoTrust, Thawte and RapidSSLS. As a SSL certificate reseller for these popular brands, they are in a position to simplify and streamline the process to reissue a GeoTrust SSL certificate for installation in a new hosting environment. Certs 4 Less will facilitate most of the reissuance steps through their control panel on behalf of the SSL Certificate owner.

There is no cost, risk or obligation to the certificate owner for using the Certs 4 Less service. Instead Certs 4 Less is offering this free service for the opportunity to earn your business once the certificate is due for renewal.

To learn more about the Certs 4 Less SSL migration support options, complete their web form with as much information as possible at:
https://www.certs4less.com/magentogo-prostores.html

A Certs 4 Less representative will contact you soon after you submit the form. No commitment is required with form submission, and Certs 4 Less will not take any action with your SSL certificate until you understand and agree to the process.

Option 2: Do it yourself

Important note: If you choose the self-service option to re-issue your SSL certificate, support and renewal options for the SSL certificate expired on 2/1/2015 when the Magento Go platform closed. Working with Certs 4 Less as noted in Option 1 eliminates the risk of losing support and renewal services on your SSL after 2/1/2015.

Follow these steps to reissue a valid GeoTrust, Thawte or Symantec/Verisign SSL Certificate:

  1. Confirm your new hosting provider will allow you to deploy a GeoTrust, Thawte or Symantec/Verisign SSL certificate in their environment
  2. Once confirmed that they will support the external SSL, obtain a new Certificate Signing Request (CSR) as it is required to complete the reissue process
  3. Go to the User Authentication page for your certificate provider: *Symantec acquired Verisign in 2010. Certificates may be branded as “Symantec” or “Verisign” depending on purchase date.
  4. Enter the fully qualified domain name or common name (i.e. mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com depending how the order was submitted) or Order ID for the most recent SSL purchase
  5. Enter the email address used for the most recent SSL purchase
  6. Enter the 5-digit number displayed in the image
  7. Click Continue
  8. A list of all certificates that meet the Common Name and contact e-mail criteria will appear
  9. Click the Request Access button next to the order being reissued under the View Order Information column
  10. An Order Information Request email will be sent to the contact email address provided at the SSL purchase time within minutes
  11. Upon receipt of the email from the SSL provider, click the "To continue, please visit" link in the email to access the Manage Order page that lists the details of the certificate order
  12. Click the “Reissue Certificate” link on the left-hand side of the page
  13. Copy and paste the new CSR (Certificate Signing Request) provided by your new hosting company or eCommerce provider into the blank Certificate Signing Requirement field on the Reissue Certificate page. Contact your new hosting company for instructions on creating a new CSR for their environment. They may need to create it for you upon request. Click on the Generate CSR link (http://www.geotrust.com/quickssl/csr/) for more help on generating CSRs for several hosting companies
  14. Check the box to agree to the SSL Certificate Subscriber Agreement
  15. Click the Submit button to complete the reissue process
  16. Provide your new hosting provider or service provider the new information provided to you

Contact your certificate provider if you encounter problems with any of the steps related to the certificate provider interface:

GeoTrust: 1-866-436-8787 or 1-520-477-3152
Symantec/Verisign: 1-877-438-8776 or +1-520-477-3102
Thawte: 1-888-484-2983 or +1-520-477-3114

What should I do with SSL certificates that I brought over from another SSL provider?

If your SSL certificate was not purchased through Magento but instead purchased directly from a certificate provider and installed in the Go environment for you, contact the company you purchased the SSL certificate from to explore their reissue options and processes.

Store and Customer Data

Can I still access, or retrieve archives of, my Magento Go store or customer information?

No. As previously communicated, access to all current or archived store and customer data, or store content and images, was terminated once the Magento Go platform was shut down on February 1, 2015.

Billing Inquiries

Can I still access my Magento Go billing records?

You still have access to your Magento Go billing history.

Log into the Magento My Account dashboard here using your Magento Commerce My Account credentials. Once logged in, click on “Billing History” in the left navigation to view your billing records.

Note: Access your “My Account” dashboard through the “My Account” link at the top of the page on magento.com since you will be redirected away from any Magento Go pages you may have bookmarked.

Why don’t I see a January 2015 invoice for my Magento Go service subscription?

There was no January 2015 invoice for Magento Go subscription fees.  Starting on 1/1/2015, we did not charge monthly subscription renewal fees and we stopped sending monthly subscription renewal notices.

What should I do if I have a question about my Magento Go subscription invoice?

For all Magento Go billing questions, go to the Contact Us page, select the “Magento Go / ProStores” reason for inquiry, and submit your billing question.

ProStores Q&A

Domain Names

How do I transfer out a ProStores dedicated domain that was either purchased through ProStores or transferred to ProStores to serve as registrar and host?

A ProStores dedicated domain is one where you might have:

  • Purchased and registered a custom domain through ProStores
  • Transferred an existing domain to ProStores to serve as registrar and host

If you have not yet transferred your ProStores dedicated domain to another registrar, it has been migrated to an eNom retail account to provide you uninterrupted administration access and control of your domain name now that ProStores has shut down. Information for accessing your new eNom retail account was sent to the email address on file for the domain registration. There is no cost to you for this migration.

Here is eNom’s contact information:

eNom Technical/Customer Support:   1-425-974-4689
eNom Support Ticket:   https://www.enomcentral.com/contact.aspx

Once you have accessed your new eNom account, you can control and manage all of your domain and DNS settings on your own at any time. You can also manage the transfer of your domain to a new registrar if that is something you need.

Often the easiest and fastest solution is to transfer your domain to your new eCommerce provider. You need to log into your eNom account to point your domain to your new store once it is ready for shoppers. Changing your DNS records takes only a few minutes to complete, but can take at least 48 hours to fully propagate across the Internet.

How do I update DNS settings?

Your DNS records must be updated in order for shoppers to see the correct store when visiting your domain name.  Log in to the control panel of your domain registrar, and modify the DNS records according to your new eCommerce provider’s specifications. This update will seamlessly direct shoppers to your new store. Make certain you no longer have the ProStores Name Servers (dns01.prostores.com, dns02.prostores.com, dns03.prostores.com and dns04.prostores.com) listed in your DNS settings with your registrar.

Because DNS changes can take at least 48 hours to fully propagate across the Internet, it is possible that some shoppers will continue to be directed to your closed store after the DNS changes have been made.

SSL Certificates

How do I reissue my SSL certificates purchased through ProStores?

Merchants with valid GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium SSL certificates may be able to have their SSL certificate reissued for use with a new hosting or eCommerce provider for the remainder of the certificate’s validity period. Not all hosting providers will allow or support externally purchased certificates. Merchants should contact their new provider to confirm they will allow the installation of an externally purchased GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium SSL certificate in their environment.
