Magento 2.3.4: Building More Engaging Customer Experiences

That was the size of the US online retail market alone in 2010, according to Forrester. In the 10 years since, eCommerce has had a coming of age of sorts, reaching nearly $650 billion last year – growing more than three times as fast as retail as a whole – while changing the way we buy and expect to interact with brands. At the same time, B2B eCommerce has exploded during that same time period, reaching $1.2 trillion in 2019.
To kick off the new decade, Magento Commerce and Magento Open Source 2.3.4 arrive today to help merchants build more engaging customer experiences that exceed expectations, keep customers returning, and drive sustained growth.
Page Builder Enhancements
Since we launched Page Builder in Magento Commerce last March, we’ve seen incredible momentum and are pleased to see customers radically accelerating their ability to deliver fresh content to their customers. We’re continuing to invest in making content a meaningful differentiator for our merchants.
Merchants now have full control over how their products are showcased within page content: Sort products in Page Builder by product position in the category or list of product SKUs, or sort by various predefined parameters like name, price, stock status, and more. Then, showcase products in either static product grids that highlight all items at once, or in image carousels that feature matched products in rotating slides.
Page Builder & PWA Studio Compatibility
Over the past year we’ve also seen a rapid uptick in the number of headless storefronts being built using Progressive Web App (PWA) Studio to incredible results. PWA Studio creates a great foundation from which developers can build, deploy, and maintain Magento-powered PWAs, and we aim to make PWAs easier to manage for our merchants.
Now, content created with Page Builder can be rendered in PWA Studio’s Venia reference storefront, putting the power, speed, and creative control of Page Builder into the hands of marketers designing PWA Studio-based storefronts.

Adobe Stock Integration
In a survey of our small and midmarket merchants, we found that many don’t produce their own media assets and instead rely on stock imagery. But with no native access to image discovery, the manual upload of assets is slow and inefficient.
In Magento 2.3.4, we have integrated Adobe Stock so that merchants can add high-quality media assets to their websites all from within the Magento admin. This integration with Adobe Stock – unique to Magento – means that merchants can simplify their creative process, streamline their workflow, and create more professional and visually compelling sites.
Click “Search Adobe Stock” from Media Gallery to seamlessly browse the full Adobe Stock catalog of millions of assets natively within the Magento admin panel. Preview watermarked images inside site content to try before licensing, license them with your Adobe ID, and programmatically replace the watermarked preview with the licensed copy anywhere it has been used.
Built with the help of the global Magento community, the combination of Magento and Adobe Stock is the first integration with Creative Cloud, and we are excited for this first step tapping into the powerful suite of Adobe creative tools. Starting today, Magento merchants who renew existing or activate new licenses will receive a free, one-time allocation of Adobe Stock credits. Merchants who fit these criteria and are interested in this program can reach out to their Customer Success Manager to learn more and begin taking advantage of the massive library of assets in Adobe Stock.

Back in Magento Commerce 2.2.2, dotdigital became the first Vendor Bundled Extension (VBE) with its code integrated into the platform out of the box. As part of the Magento Commerce 2.3.4 release, dotdigital has enhanced its VBE with the addition of Chat and will include one free agent for merchants to get started. This feature is exclusive to Magento 2.3.4 merchants and starts another exciting chapter in our relationship with dotdigital.
Chat agents can easily and efficiently manage multiple conversations with customers and prospects, and can send and receive files, such as tickets, receipts, product images or demo videos, or marketing collateral, such as eBooks and whitepapers. Additionally, Chat offers the key advantage of potentially upselling customers to a different product (in case their favorite is out-of-stock) and recommending products complementary to a previous purchase.
Dotdigital Engagement Cloud Chat allows customers to get in touch with brands and receive real-time responses, removing any barriers to sales and delivering exceptional customer service. Chat provides access to answers within seconds, and having it integrated into your site gives you a head start to generating more revenue.

In addition to these new features included with the latest release, Magento 2.3.4 delivers updates and enhancements across the entire platform:
• PWA Studio 5.0.0: Beyond compatibility with Page Builder, the latest update of PWA Studio includes new tools to help get a new project up and running more quickly, and “Talons” to make it easier to work with Venia UI components. Learn about these changes and more in the PWA Studio Release Notes.
• GraphQL: This release includes improved GraphQL coverage as we continue to better enable a growing number of merchants to take a headless approach to storefront development. See detailed changes on our GraphQL Release Notes.
• Improved performance: We’ve made performance improvements to several areas of the platform, including storefront performance, by minimizing requests to the server. We’ve also optimized Inventory Management and B2B capabilities.
• Authorize.net: The core integration of the Authorize.net payment method has been deprecated as we have done with other payment methods following the EU’s PSD2 regulation. Please use the official payment integration that is available on Marketplace.
• Security and Platform Quality Upgrades: We’ve introduced a number of security fixes along with upgrades to platform components for improved security and PCI compliance. See the Adobe Security Bulletins for more information about security updates included in this new version.
