Regalraum is a specialist online retailer for shelves and shelving systems that has impressed customers with its high quality and affordable prices. Regalraum's online shop offers a wide selection of shelving systems, wall shelves and free-standing shelves, which designers continue to develop with a lot of attention to detail. Regalraum also caters to customers’ individual wishes, producing bespoke solutions in its in-house joinery workshop. Regalraum's love and passion for its products have made it one of the leading suppliers of high-quality shelving systems at fair prices in the German-speaking region.

Regalraum has had a Magento shop for many years. As the specialist retailer sells exclusively online, its web shop is critical to its success. Magento 1 has enabled Regalraum to grow extremely dynamically over the years and reach a new level. To allow the company to continue its success story, it was time to make the shop fit for the future. Based on its positive experience to date, Regalraum quickly decided to re-platform its shop to Magento Commerce 2. The aim was to improve usability, simplify the checkout process and speed up load times. The company also wanted to improve integration of its connected 3D shelf planner, to enable a better overview in purchases of more complex shelving systems. Regalraum once again commissioned the Magento Commerce partner TechDivision, which was responsible for the existing Magento 1 shop, to carry out the migration.

The previous shop based on Magento 1 helped us to achieve very dynamic growth. The transition to Magento Commerce 2 and the associated opportunities took us to a whole new level very quickly after the project went live.

Elasticsearch for optimum search and filter functions

To further improve the shop’s usability and make it as easy as possible for customers to find their perfect shelving, Regalraum reviewed its search function and the category view. The enterprise search technology Elasticsearch was integrated to achieve maximum performance. Regalraum can also offer its customers many convenient functions such as search suggestions and can ensure an error margin in search terms. In the category view, we consider maximum clarity to be very important. Dynamic direct links to appropriate subcategories and extensive category filters allow customers to narrow down the displayed results based on their desired criteria. Comprehensive content below the presentation of the product helps them to find the right product more easily.

Individual bespoke shelving and integration of the 3D shelf planner

When it comes to the product detail page, Regalraum once again pays a great deal of attention to optimum clarity and usability. Detailed product information and customer reviews are provided along with many product images and videos. “Quote attributes” in Magento also allow customers to order bespoke versions of certain products.

Another highlight of the updated Magento shop is the integrated 3D shelf planner, which allows Regalraum customers to configure entire shelving units on an individual basis and order them with a single click. They can be as imaginative as they wish. The shopping cart has also been updated and expanded in connection with this. All components and parts of an individual shelf are now listed separately with an image and delivery time and are put together into a bundle.

Significant increase in sales since shop relaunch

The figures since the new Magento 2 shop went live at the end of February speak for themselves. Regalraum has so far increased its sales by around 40% year on year and has boosted its conversion rate by 12%. Another sign that customers are finding more products that they like is that the value of the average shopping cart has also risen compared with the old shop. The goal of increasing usability has thus been achieved. Customers can find the shelves they want more easily, resulting in higher conversions and sales for Regalraum.

One of the objectives of Regalraum's shop relaunch on Magento 2 was to improve usability and user experience. The achievement of this aim was confirmed in spectacular fashion when the company won the Shop Usability Award in the special category “Masterclass Design”. The Shop Usability Award has been going for 13 years and is regarded as the most prestigious e-commerce award in the German-speaking region.

By switching to Magento Commerce 2, we significantly improved our online presence from both a technical and a performance viewpoint and gave a further boost to our sales. The integrated Magento Page Builder lets us create landing pages and themes very easily and with no knowledge of programming, enabling us to offer our customers an even better online shopping experience. The seamless integration of our 3D shelf planner into Magento Commerce 2 allows our customers to configure shelving systems according to their individual wishes and simplifies the purchasing process.
