Beaumotica Lights Up the International Market with Magento
Beaumotica had conquered the Netherlands. But they wanted to take on the world.
Beaumotica is a specialist reseller of designer mood lighting and in-home automation technologies. Their Netherlands-based site had become one of the largest online Philips Hue resellers in the home tech market. But it wanted to expand internationally, with a new English-language website. As a brand, Beaumotica is all about creating experiences—in home and online. Their business model relies almost entirely on eCommerce and its new website needed to support their vision of an exceptional online experience. The team was looking for a flexible platform that could support their performance requirements while being easy and efficient to design, build, and manage.
When Beaumotica decided to expand internationally and add an English dot com site, Magento 2 was the best choice for us. The platform was built for scalability and performance and would prepare us for international growth.

Magento made international expansion fast and easy.
As an early technology adopter, Beaumotica was intrigued by the power and flexibility of Magento 2. Introduced to the platform by Magento Solution Partner MediaCT, they decided this was the perfect opportunity to get a hands-on experience with Magento 2, before migrating their Dutch site to the new platform, and creating other market-specific sites.
The new Magento theming and layout framework made it easier to create and manage content in multiple languages for their sites (Dutch and English). Initially the team had considered using a separate product-category management system, but they decided to use the out-of-box capabilities of Magento 2. It was perfectly-suited to maintaining multiple sites in different languages as their business expanded to other countries. Simply put, Magento was ready to help them take over the world.
With a modern wide-screen design, the new Magento Admin dashboard made day-to-day tasks like updating products and processing orders more manageable. Admin and backend enhancements in Magento 2 also made it easier to import and export products, add attributes, and create custom catalog views. Beaumotica set up a filtered view to show products with missing descriptions to make it simple for copywriters to identify content gaps. This makes the site easier to manage, especially now that they need to maintain content in more languages than before.
To enhance their online shopping experience, the team leveraged the native checkout process in Magento 2 to streamline checkout for their customers. They also used the new responsive design themes to build an entirely responsive site that is more fluid and seamless across all devices, from phones, to tablets, to desktops.

With separate databases for order management, product management, and checkout, the new Beaumotica site can independently scale to meet different load requirements. The pre-integrated Varnish caching has had a significant impact on performance. The team expects a positive impact on page load times and conversions, leading to improved business results for the site.
